THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER

Greetings from Pedro Floriani English Department.

We are starting our Reading Days with First Year of ESO groups. We want to promote the use of the English language by reading well-known novels by famous authors.

This time we have chosen the adaptation of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Samuel Langhorne Clemens, best known as Mark Twain was born in Florida in 1835 . He spent most of his life in Hannibal, a small town in Missouri on the Mississippi River. Although later he moved to Nevada where he worked as a journalist before setting off for New York.

Samuel loved the Mississippi river, the boats and in his two most popular novels he depicted life at the river.

People loved his books because they were both humorous and informal.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was first published in 1876, then The Prince and the Pauper came out in 1882 and two years later the sequel of Tom Sawyer’s Adventures , The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was the highlight of his life as a writer.
